How to Plan a Google Ads Budget Without Guesswork — Digitoria blog cover

Define the scope

There is no single advertising budget that suits every business. Start with the service, locations, audience and action you want to test. A campaign for one local service has a different scope from a campaign covering several cities and product categories. Narrowing the first test makes the budget easier to interpret.

Separate the costs

Distinguish the amount paid to the advertising platform from setup, management, creative work and website improvements. Ask for these costs to be explained clearly. Confirm who owns the account and how you will access invoices and results. A headline package price is difficult to assess when the included media spend is unclear.

Connect spend to business outcomes

Agree on what counts as a useful enquiry and how it will be recorded. Track whether an enquiry matches the service and can be followed up. Use your own sales information to evaluate commercial value rather than borrowing another company’s conversion assumptions. Treat projections as assumptions to test, not promised results.

Set a review process

Decide when the campaign will be reviewed and which evidence would justify a change. Check search relevance, landing-page clarity and enquiry handling before assuming that more spend will fix the problem. Increase scope only when the business can support the additional enquiries and the results are understood. Keep a record of changes so you can compare periods sensibly.
